Academic Integrity
At Careerline Courses, we are committed to fostering a learning environment grounded in honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. These principles form the foundation of academic integrity, which is essential for your personal and professional development.
WHAT IS ACADEMIC INTEGRITY?
Academic integrity involves upholding ethical standards in all aspects of your learning journey. This means completing your coursework independently, properly citing sources, and avoiding dishonest practices such as plagiarism, collusion, or contract cheating. Engaging in such misconduct not only undermines your education but also poses risks to your future career prospects.
WHY IT MATTERS?
Maintaining academic integrity ensures that the qualifications you earn genuinely reflect your knowledge and skills. Employers and professional bodies value authenticity and may question credentials obtained through dishonest means. Furthermore, using unauthorized services can expose you to legal issues and potential identity theft, as commercial cheating services are illegal in Australia.
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
Careerline Courses provides comprehensive support to help you succeed with integrity. If you encounter challenges in your studies, we encourage you to reach out to our tutors or Student Services (support team). We are here to assist you in developing effective study strategies and understanding course materials, ensuring you can confidently complete your assessments.
Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else’s work, ideas, or words as your own without proper acknowledgment. This includes:
- Copying text from books, websites, or other students
- Submitting assignments written by another person
- Closely paraphrasing content without credit
- Using AI tools such as ChatGPT to generate content and submitting it without acknowledgment
At Careerline Courses, we are committed to academic integrity and expect all students to submit work that reflects their own learning and effort.
USE OF AI TOOLS
AI tools can be useful for study support, such as clarifying ideas or improving grammar. However, using AI-generated content in place of your own understanding—especially in assessments—is a form of plagiarism.
Acceptable AI Use Includes:
- Generating study ideas or prompts
- Clarifying definitions or reviewing grammar
- Gaining general understanding of a topic
Unacceptable AI Use Includes:
- Copying and pasting AI-generated answers into assignments
- Using AI to rewrite or complete tasks without your own input
- Presenting AI-written content as your own
If you use an AI tool in any capacity, you must clearly disclose it. A simple statement such as the following is recommended:
“Parts of this work were supported by the use of generative AI tools (e.g. for grammar and idea development). Final submission is my own original work.”
Penalties for Plagiarism
Careerline Courses handles plagiarism with fairness but seriousness. If plagiarism is detected, the following actions may be taken depending on the nature and frequency of the offence:
First Offence:
- You will receive a warning and be asked to resubmit the assessment.
- Educational resources or referencing guidance will be provided.
Second Offence:
- You may receive a failing grade for the assessment.
- Further academic support may be required before continuing in your course.
Third or Repeated Offences:
- You may be removed from the course without a refund.
- Future enrolment in other courses may be restricted.
Careerline Courses reserves the right to escalate the response in cases of severe or intentional academic dishonesty.
We believe in supporting our students to succeed honestly. If you’re ever unsure about how to properly reference or whether a tool’s use is acceptable, please reach out—our tutors and support team are here to help.
